Bittel, May
(1953- )
   Switzerland. Sinto pastor and civil rights activist. Founder of the GIRCA (Gypsy International Recognition, Compensation, and Action) Association. He has for more than 25 years been an activist for the Gypsy cause, in Switzerland as well as abroad, and is the symbol of the fight for recognition of the Swiss Gypsies' rights. Bittel is a member of the Swiss foundation Assurer l'avenir des Gens du Voyage and the Swiss Commission against Racism.
