Bucharest Conference

Bucharest Conference
(1934)
This conference was organized by Lazarescu Lazurica and the Uniunea Generala a Romilor din Romania (General Union of the Gypsies of Romania). There were a number of invitees from abroad, though it is uncertain whether any attended. A number of resolutions were passed, and the final declaration asked for equal civil rights for Gypsies and help with education and employment. However, it brought little if any change. It has been considered as the first international meeting of Gypsies.
