All-Party Parliamentary Group on Roma Affairs

All-Party Parliamentary Group on Roma Affairs
United Kingdom. Est. 2003. Spokesperson: Paul Stinchcombe, MP. The group was set up in 2003 to alert the British government to the Third World living conditions of Roma Gypsies in the European Union accession countries of central and eastern Europe. Its report Roma Rights in Stage One Accession Countries outlines the situation of Roma in four such nations: Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia. The group was a joint initiative of European Dialogue and Stinchcombe, the Labour Party MP for Wellingbor-ough and Rushden. Its stated purpose is "to raise the profile of Roma human rights issues within the states of central and eastern Europe that are acceding to the EU." All-party groups by definition have to have at least one member from three or more parties.
