Furey, Finbar
(1946- )
   Ireland, Dublin. Piper and singer of Irish Traveler origin. In 1966 he moved to Scotland with his elder brother Eddie as a laborer but the two then developed a successful musical career. They have played at the Edinburgh Festival and toured widely in Great Britain and the United States.
   In 1969 their brothers Paul and George joined them to form the Fureys. Apart from their recordings, the group appeared on both Scottish and English television. Their CDs include Steal Away (1992). Finbar left the group in 1993 to launch a solo career, with CDs include Chasing Moonlight. His son Martin currently resides in England and plays in the folk-rock group Bohinta.
