Groome, Francis Hindes
(1851-1902)
   England. Writer and scholar. Possibly related to George Borrow. He left university without taking a degree and lived with Gypsies in England and Europe, including an English Romany named Esmeralda Locke whom he later wed, although the marriage was not to last. He was joint editor of the first series of the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society. Groome also wrote a novel Kriegspiel with a Romany theme and edited a collection of Gypsy folktales.
