Art
Since 1945 a number of Gypsy artists have emerged. In Austria, Karl Stojka and his sister, Ceija Stojka, have become well known. Karl's paintings have been exhibited widely outside Austria. In the Czech Republic, Rudolf Djurko paints on glass. Another painter in the Czech Republic is Mirka Preussova. Unschooled artists have emerged, particularly in Hungary where there have been two national exhibitions of work by self-taught Gypsy artists, the first held in 1979 and the second in 1989. Seventeen artists showed their work at the second exhibition, including János Balázs. Artists in England include the couple Damian and Delaine LeBas and Daniel Baker.
