Kannauj

Kannauj
   A city in India on the Ganges captured by the Muslims in 1018. All of its inhabitants were apparently taken as captives to Kho-rasan. Linguist Marcel Cortiade has put forward the hypothesis that these captives were the ancestors of the Romanies.
