Kings

Kings
When the Romanies first came to Europe, their leaders adopted European titles; we find in the records references to dukes in particular. The use of the titles king and queen started perhaps in the 19th century. In some cases, the person designated king is not the real leader-a device to deceive the authorities. Most modern "kings" and "queens" have authority only over their own extended family.
