Miller, Jimmie

(1915-1989)
   Scotland. Singer. He recorded the Gypsies' own stories of their life and composed the music for a popular documentary-a "radio ballad," as it was called by the BBC-The Travelling People. Many of the songs he wrote have become part of the repertoire of Gypsy singers, such as "The Moving On Song" and "A Freeborn Man."
