Pashov, Shakir

   Bulgaria. Editor, politician, and political activist. In 1933, he was editor of Terbie (Education) but a year later the right-wing government banned all the minority and opposition magazines and organizations. Following the establishment of a Communist government in 1945, he became head of the new Gypsy organization Ekhipen (Unity) and editor of a new magazine for Gypsies. He became a member of Parliament but was interned at Belen prison camp during the later Communist clampdown on Romany nationalism.
