- (Leksa Manus)(1941-1997)Latvia. Librarian, poet, and translator. A graduate of the Latvian State University, he was later research librarian at the Institute of Scientific Information in Moscow. Following his long military service in Kazakhstan, he wrote the story "Where Are You, Roma?" His writings include a translation (published in the journal Roma) of the Indian classic the Ramayana. He was competent in many Romani dialects, and several of his poems have been published in Roma and-in translation-in various other periodicals. He was also the editor of an anthology of Gypsy poetry and of a Romani children's ABC primer for both Russian and Latvian Romani.
