Bielenberg, Raya
   Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Contemporary singer. It is recounted that when the Moscow Romany Theatre came to play in her town, she jumped on the stage and joined in the singing. The director was so impressed, he hired her on the spot. Later, she married a Norwegian journalist and since then has lived in Norway and Paris. She has made several records of traditional songs. Currently she plays in the group Raya and her Gypsy Legacy with members of her family.
