Decade of Roma Inclusion

Decade of Roma Inclusion
(2005-2015)
This was a proposal of the World Bank, the Open Society Institute (OSI), and the European Commission. It was formally launched at a meeting of prime ministers from central and southeastern Europe in Sofia on 2 February 2005. In June that same year, Romania was chosen to hold the rotating presidency of the Decade at a meeting in Bucharest attended by George Soros of OSI. The aim is by 2015 to end discrimination and ensure Gypsies equal access to education, housing, employment, and health care.
