Ponomareva, Valentina
   Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Contemporary singer and musician. She blends her vocals with electronic orchestral accompaniment. She toured internationally in the late 1990s with the Volgograd (Stalingrad) band Orkestrion, which incorporates made-up instruments recycled from rubbish dumps, giving a unique performance of poetry and music.
