Project on Ethnic Relations
   (PER)
   United States. Est. 1991. A nongovernmental organization founded to encourage the peaceful resolution of ethnic conflicts in the new democracies of central and eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It has organized a number of conferences in Europe on the position of Romanies. There is a council composed of Gypsies who advise PER, known as PERRAC (PER Romani Advisory Council).
