Djuric, Rajko
(1947- )
   Serbia. Journalist and poet. He studied in the Faculty of Philosophy at Belgrade University from 1967 to 1972 and went on to obtain a doctorate of sociology in 1986. Until 1991, he was editor of the cultural section of the daily newspaper Politika. As an opponent of the government and the war in Bosnia, he had to flee in October 1991 to Germany but has now returned to Belgrade. He has written poetry and prose in both Romani and Serbo-Croat. At the third World Romany Congress, he was elected secretary, and he served as president between the fourth and fifth congresses. His literary works have been translated into more than five languages. They include a collection of lyrics - Than telal o kham [A Place Under the Sun] - and a survey of Roma writers.
