(CPRSI)
Est. 1994 in Warsaw. The Contact Point was set up by the Budapest meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 1994. Its first coordinator was Jacek Paliszewski, followed by Nicolae Gheorghe in 1999. The CPRSI logs all reported instances of violence against Romanies and Sinti and informs the national authorities in the respective countries. In January 1996 the CPRSI organized a "Workshop on Violence against Roma" in Warsaw attended by representatives of 35 Romani and Sinti organizations and nongovernmental organizations. On 21 November 1996, alongside the Council of Europe, it held a meeting in Budapest with representatives of governments and Romani organizations to discuss minority rights and the legal situation of Romanies. This meeting took place at the same time as a gathering of the Standing Conference for Cooperation and Coordination of Romani Associations in Europe in Vienna. The CPRSI has also prepared a special report on violence against Gypsies for the OSCE Permanent Council and published a newsletter for OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
